Greg Bowlus

Director of Families and Programs

I have served as the Director of Families and Programs here at Highland Park since April of 2020. Leaving a position and friends, moving to another state and beginning a new position is tough enough but to do so in a pandemic…wow! To say it has been quite a roller coaster ride since beginning my role here would be a monumental understatement! We feel as if we are just now really getting to know the Highland Park church family!

Before coming to HPUMC I served a UMC in South Florida for 6 years and before that I served in various churches within our denomination beginning in 2002.

I grew up in Tampa, Florida in a Christian home where my dad was a Minister of Music in Baptist churches and a professional gospel musician. I received my BA in Music from Mars Hill University, my Master degree in Church Music from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and was ordained in the Baptist church in 1990. Over the course of 30 plus years of ministry, God has blessed me to serve in congregations of 50 to several thousand and of varying denominations and a non-denominational church.

God has also blessed me with an amazing family! The love of my life is Shelly and she enjoys her role as the Administrative Assistant at The King's Academy. Together we have 4 kids ages 18-27 mostly adulting, and all living in Florida. We love to laugh, travel, spend time with our family, ride our motorcycle and we generally enjoy doing anything and everything together. Shelly and I have already fallen in love with Florence and have met many friends and kindred spirits here at HPUMC. We look forward to seeing God work in and through HPUMC as we continue to be the hands and feet of Jesus!

My favorite life verse is Micah 6:8.
