Becky Brown has served part-time as our Director of Music since Spring of 2020, but she has been Highland Park’s pianist/accompanist since Fall of 2013. She joined the Praise Band as well in 2014, and with a great volunteer band and choir, as well as a talented organist, Becky has helped provide worship music for both contemporary and traditional services ever since.
“I grew up in Charleston, SC, graduated Middleton High School (1977) and Winthrop College (1982) with a B,M,E.(Bachelor’s in Music Education) I married and moved to Darlington in 1983 where my husband and I were blessed with one son, Kyle, who is now 28 and resides in NC. I’ve taught Music in both public and private schools but my full-time job and love continues to be teaching privately—guitar and piano students of all ages. This business, grown over 20+ years has been a discipline and ministry in its own right. I am referred by several OT’s in the area and those students are some of the most gifted and rewarding to teach children there are. All students are blessings to my life and I know they are God’s provision for me to multiply what I’ve been given. I enjoy beach-combing, cooking, shell-collecting, boating in the marsh, writing, spoiling my pets, gardening, and of course—playing music just for fun whenever I can.”
